Life of a university student - Part IX

University life is crazy as usual, but this semester are crazy with reports and assignment.

Let's see, 3 labs per week, and 2 of them are individual report, one is group report.
  • Which means I have 2.5 reports to submit each week.
  • Out of the 2 individual report, 1 is always around 25-35 pages long due to hack load of experiment results to analyze.
  • Another report varies around 5-10 pages, and thank god that these few weeks the results always combined in few weeks and send in one shot.
  • And there are assignments coming in inconsistently.
Therefore I though of a good theme for this semester - Study hard, work hard, and play hard. The computer labs had installed new computers, with crazy specs.

I know that thumb drives is a must for university students now days, but putting games in the thumb drive is a new must for us now.

Not only study hard, work hard, and play hard; sometimes we even eat hard. Nothing do went to supermarket bought 2 bucket of ice cream, then finish them off in one shot.

Who say in exam hell hall you can't play in your phone? *shhh...*

Well then, life goes on... Sit down and have a drink and some snacks, laugh your way through is always better than struggle your way through.

You had served me well since form 5.

I'll remember those days spent with you in the past, during FQ, during exams, during maths, during physics, during chemistry, during experiment, during report, during class.

I was careless to left you behind, I'm terribly sorry T.T!

My precious calculator.

Happy Birthday, Dad

Supposed to blog about this last week. But as usual, my reports and tests ate away most of my time, leaving my blog half dead now. Not a good sign, need to rearrange my timetable seriously!

So anyway, 2nd sis came back from Singapore, to take a break, shopping, and celebrate some party for dad's coming birthday! Barbecue and lamb, simply amazing! Sadly wasn't feel very well that day, staying near the fire could toast me for real.

The lamb, and me.

The lamb, and everybody.

The lamb, and Edward the butcher.

Urh, too much lamb talk, but can't help it! The lamb is just way too nice from being nice. It melts in your mouth like ice cream, juicy as you chewing it, added with some mint sauce would brings you to heaven!

Here's the barbecue pit, and Jeremy doing the cooking with his "shadowless hand"!

Not forgetting the drinks.

The uncles inside.

And the children outside.

Yin-Yang cake!

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to papa, happy birthday to you!"

Seeing dad so happy, the children also feels great larh!

Been a while we are able to gather and take some family photo, personally thinks that this one is one of the best!

Poor grass, gota take some time for them to grow back. Ah Pak had a few pots of plants over it as temporary solution, lol.

Malaysia Universities Ranking

Let's see where is ourselves shall we?
World Rank
University of Tokyo (Japan)
University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong)
Peking University (China)
National University of Singapore (Singapore)
Chulalongkorn University (Thailand)
Kasetsart University (Thailand)
Mahidol University (Thailand)
Thammasat University (Thailand)
Universitas Gadjah Mada (Indonesia)
Chiang Mai University (Thailand)
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (Malaysia)
Universiti Sains Malaysia (Malaysia)
Institute of Technology Bandung (Indonesia)
Universiti Malaysia Perlis (Malaysia)
University of Malaya (Malaysia)
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (Malaysia)
Universiti Putra Malaysia (Malaysia)

Alright, that's cruel. Maybe we shouldn't compare ourselves with the whole world. Let's just check in Asia's ranking.
Asia Rank
University of Tokyo (Japan)
National Taiwan University (Taiwan)
University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong)
Peking University (China)
National University of Singapore (Singapore)
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (Malaysia)
Universiti Sains Malaysia (Malaysia)

Sad to tell that UMP, UM, UKM, and UPM is not even in the top 100 list, the website only listed out the top 100 universities in Asia.

And guess what? Some very smart minister Someone going to say: "At least Malaysia universities are top 1000 in the world!" very loudly and proudly even facing this kind of rankings.

Malaysia BOLEH! SATU Malaysia!

I baked a cake!

Alright, I admit that I was bored.

Therefore due to boredom, I went to bake a cake! Recipe from Joel's cake that baked in my house last time.

The ingredients: sugar, melted butter, flour, and some secret ingredients isn't here, *evil grins*.

Loose the flour, so air can go into it.

Next step are simple, mix everything up, slowly.

Until it looks creamy, put it into a pan.

Preheat the oven, put the chocolate slime into it.

Wait for a few moments, and tadaa!

White rats of the day? Myself, mom, dad, my uncle and aunt, and the little sick devil. Bwahahaha!

Taste great! Let's hope for second attempt in the future.

Firefox vs Chrome

I just installed Google Chrome recently, to test out its performance against Mozilla Firefox which I've always been using, out of sudden want-to-try-out-something-new feeling.

Load hack lots slower when connection speed is slow, normally ends with "Page Load Error".

Load quicker and lesser error during slow connections compared to Firefox.

Have separator to organize your bookmarks nicely.

Don't have separator, bookmarks looks more messy.

Google toolbar, Bing toolbar, all you can add if your liked it.

The address bar itself is the Google toolbar, it will detect the content you entered is an address or not, else it would search in the search engine you predefined.

Flash games and flash animation runs nicely.

Flash games LAGS, and crashed the browser twice in a day for the record.

Search function runs fine, no highlights.

Search function with highlights, I found it pretty useful!

Many add-ons and gadgets for you to grab, you can even customize the appearance.

Way lesser add-on and gadget, doesn't seems to be able to customize the appearance.

Processor killer, eats hack load of processing speed.

Processor saver, requires much lesser (50-75%) processing speed compared to Firefox.

So basically, Chrome is better when it comes to basic web browsing and data searching; Firefox might be slower, but as long as your connection speed ain't that bad and you are using a decent computer (not Pentium 3 or something), it actually works quite well, bad things start to happen when you doing multiple task in your computer with Firefox staying up...

Well, just my personal experience with these 2 fella.

Here's the link to get Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. They are both free!

P/S: Oh, what about Internet Explorer from Microsoft? Well, out of the topic here, I got enough of bad impression towards IE since long ago, lol.
