Big Question - Brief history of time

Well, this is actually a script I wrote for my public speaking course. It combines some information I learned from books and videos I encountered randomly. Enjoy!

---

Ever since human civilization begins, many great people asked about big questions. Among the popular ones, there is this question about “where do we all come from?”

Well, in religious point of will, we might answer it as “GOD created us.” But today, I’m going to share another view from another group of people, the group of scientist, physicist, mathematician, and astronomer about what they think about this question.

To start the story, we must go back to 13.7 billion years ago, to the moment of creation, the Big Bang. Until now, nobody was able to explain why or how it happens, but we know that it has happened before, and unimaginable amount of energy is released during the Big Bang.

Just like water vapor condenses into water, energies can condense into matter or atoms according to Einstein’s famous equation of E=mc2. At the moment of creation, it is mostly Hydrogen and Helium atoms are being created. The universe at that moment contains nothing more than dust clouds of Hydrogen and Helium.

Millions of years after the Big Bang, the universe has expanded large enough and cooled down, massive clouds of hydrogen grouped together by gravity, and it forms the first star. It does not happen in one place, but in almost anywhere in the universe!

Inside the stars, atoms of hydrogen are being squeezed and pushed together in the hot stars to form Helium atom, releasing nuclear fusion energy that we called sunlight.

If the star is hot enough, it can even start to cook heavier elements such as carbon – the element that all live on earth are based, oxygen – another essential part of living on earth, or iron – that builds up our house and machinery.

However, heavy elements such as gold are just too hard even for the biggest star in the known universe. But it doesn’t mean that it can’t be fused, just that it requires a very special condition – the supernova. Supernova happens when the star has run out of hydrogen fuel, and exploded in a massive blow. In other word, gold is only created during the death of a massive star.

After billions of years, the cycle of life and death has created enough heavy matter to forms planets, such as our own earth. Most of what we seen today, is actually cooked in the core of a massive star in the long past. Impressive isn’t it?

Next time, when someone asked you: “where do you come from?” You may answer them: “I’m born in earth, made from the star dust” or you could tell them: “You and I, are nothing but nuclear waste from the past”.

Thank you.

Pokemon Hatred

Well, I have a very good reason to hate Pokemon to the bones. It is like going back home everyday and get some pika greetings even though you don't really need it, sigh...

"To protect the world from devastation!" - At least, please protect my cracking world can?

Assignments

My holiday assignments, I always had this habit of converting the completed assignments into .pdf files to show that "IT IS DONE!" for me.

Let's see, 6+7+6+25+25=69 pages, I just completed a magazine over the week! Now, printing out requires 6 cent per page, which means 69x6=414 cents, which end up a total of RM4.20 (the aunties never round down).

Well, RM4.20 can equal to a pretty "luxurious" meal in the mixed rice shop, with meat and stuffs, but now it is just for the assignments and reports! The trees going to cry man.

Final faster come, final faster end, I'm addicted to holidays!

Rice, Fish, Monkey, and Penguin

Yet another healthy activity called by Joel, and location suggested by Jason - Sekinchan. Why Sekinchan? "My friend went there and it seems fun." - from Jason.

Is a frigging long ride to reach there.

Anyhow we manage to reach the place. Maybe we went at the wrong season, all the restaurant are flood with people, took us some time to find a place to sit at a random restaurant.

Time: 1.10 p.m.
- Placed the order, happily took some photo around while waiting for the food.

Time: 1.20 p.m.
- The guys went too hungry, ordered a plate of white rice and fill up the stomach a little first. We found it to be a bit too tasteless, therefore we added some soy sauce. Finished the plate of rice within 2 minutes.

Time: 1.55 p.m.
- We shifted the table to a bigger one, Joel went too hungry from waiting the food.

Time: 2.25 p.m.
- Jason went too hungry too, eating chili padi and garlics, Joel staring with gluttonous eyes.

Time: 2.50 p.m.
- Finally the food arrived! Actually we ordered a fish too, but by the time we finished all these meals the fish is still yet to be produced. Since we does not plan to wait for another long hour for the fish, consider it done.

Mark down this place guys, a good place to train your patience.

After eating, time to see the rice field!

And more rice field...

And more... I love the clouds by the way...

Ok larh, rice field with me...

And rice field with us...

We found a rice processing factory nearby the field.

Then went in had some look.

This is the raw rice, fresh from the field.

---

Next, Jason brought us to fishing, but out of 4 of us there is only one functioning fishing rod.

P/S: I really like the view of this photo!

What happen to the people without the rod? Collect shells larh.

Joel was going to bored to death at that moment, how rare to see Joel complaining boredom in a healthy activity.

---

Next, we went to Bukit Malawati for some sight seeing. But see what exactly lerh?

To see monkey.

To see cannon, seriously they have damn many cannons here.

How many pose u can do with a single cannon?

The view are pretty good, high ground ma.

Joel with his superman pose again.

There is this light house (with some historical story behind) here that supposed to be one of the attraction around. But the door is locked, so can only take pictures from outside.

Took some lame picture with the burst mode. Abusing my programming skills, I made it into an animated .gif file~

The night is coming, the great day ends with a meal with Pn. Wong, the good ol penguin chemistry teacher.

Treated a meal from her, paiseh lerh, but the meal is really really nice! Especially the asam fish, simply oh-my-gawd!

Well, that makes up my day, what a tired, sunny, happy, chatty, and meaningful day!

Scam Mail

I've always heard of scam mail about "You won xxx million! Congratulation!", but this is the first time I actually received one.

Yeah right, being a millionaire in EUR, too early to dream.

Just remember guys, money don't fall from the sky! Don't lose yourself to greed, don't believe in "What if it is real?" as it is never real in the first place!

Stress

This is the first time that I actually felt stress, couldn't even feel that it could go this bad after STPM.

I could think of all kinds of unfinished work whenever I closed my eye, reports and assignment stacking on top of each other like no tomorrow.

It is closing to week 10 now, I have 2 weeks to test 2 and 4 weeks to go until final, yet there is still around 3 weeks of lab on schedule (not to mention that I'm extremely unhappy with one of the lab demonstrator), 3 different project that could get myself killed if I'm not careful.

And people that start mentioning FYP...

I'm fine with the difficult assignments, but the lecturer always prefer things to be more challenging by mixing us up, 1 Malaysia Boleh!

I've been cursing a lot in this semester, not good...

Anyway I'm not going to talk about the foods we had all day larh, want to know what we eat to check out TingWei or KhaiLin's blog larh, hahaha...
